Using Terraseed Irrigation
Irrigation

irrigation_irrigation2_00Irrigation management is important, especially in the early germination stage, particularly with Terraseed ClassicTM. It is important to keep the mat moist with light frequent waterings to facilitate effective germination. The light frequent waterings also help in cooling the mat and preventing excessive heat build up, which could negatively affect germination by causing thermo dormancy.

Once the plant has established and the radical has pushed through the lower paper layer into the soil, the frequency of watering can be significantly reduced. The characteristic of the Terraseed is to 'pull' water up rather than allow leaching, thus it is important to monitor the crop and prevent overwatering or waterlogging.

Terrraseed ExcelTM requires much less irrigation and is more suitable in arid conditions providing the mat can be kept cool.

Excessive watering can not only 'drown 'the young plants, but if any puddles are created and then allowed to dry out, soil/seed mat contact is affected. This means that young plants germinate and then die as their radicals find their way into an 'air pocket'.

Sprinkler irrigation is the only type of irrigation recommended for use with Terraseed.
