Terraseed increases the yield, and number of drilled crops grown per season, whilst reducing costs especially compared to transplanted crops.
In repeated replicated trials over a number of seasons on different sites Terraseed ExcelTM and Terraseed ClassicTM have both shown an increased yield over conventionally drilled crops. Similar findings have been reported by commercial growers.
The following table summarises the typical yield and days to harvest that have been recorded using green babyleaf cos lettuce over a number of years.

While Terraseed ExcelTM gives outstanding yield with reduced days to harvest it also produces a much softer crop that does not have a long shelf life. To compensate for this covers are generally removed about two weeks before harvest to help harden the crop.
Cost against drilled crops
Terraseed tends to be slightly more expensive than establishing conventional high density drilled crops (eg spinach) but is comparable with the establishment costs of more difficult conventional crops (eg rocket and herbs) or organic crops. The cost saving on inputs with these crops is with hand weeding and or agrochemical use.
Cost against transplanted crops
Terraseed is approximately half the cost of establishment over a tansplanted crop where at leaset 40 plants/m2 are used. Against this saving, crops take aproximately 14 days longer to come to maturity over transplanted crops.
