Water splash from the soil is a major source of contamination from E. coli and Salmonella. By providing a barrier between the soil and the harvested crop, contamination from soil is greatly reduced leaving leafy crops very clean allowing some leafy salad crops to be sold as unwashed.

Shelf life of crops grown in Terraseed Classic is excellent compared with conventionally grown crops. This is due to the compact, turgid leaf condition combined with reduced microbiological and foreign body contamination.
