Carrots grow well in both Terraseed ClassicTM and Terraseed ExcelTM, but the crop grows with a small part of the crown just above the surface of the seedmat. This encourages 'green-top' in a proportion of the crop. To overcome this we are trialing the removal of the seedmat after establishment and hoeing between rows to ridge up the crop. If successful we will also control root fly and weeds during the early stages.
Seeds are sown in pairs of rows 15cm apart at between 400 and 600 /m2. |

Radish grow very well in Terraseed ClassicTM but careful management is needed to ensure the large seeds do not dry out during establishment. The crop grows above the seedmat and is easily harvested by top lifting.
Seeds are sown in rows that are 7.5 cm apart at between 400 and 600 /m2. |

Turnips grow very well in Terraseed ClassicTM but we do not have any experience of growing them under Terraseed ExcelTM. The crop establishes and grows very quickly. The swollen stem bases grow above the seedmat and are easily top lifted through it.
Seeds are sown in rows that are 7.5cm apart at between 400 and 600 /m2. |
