Basil

crops_basil_00Basil is a Mediterranean herb that grows best in the hot dry conditions provided by Terraseed ClassicTM under glass.  Crops have been grown very successfully  outside but have become woody.

Seeds are line-sown in rows that are 7.5cm apart at between 500 and 1000 seeds / m2.

Tarragon
crops_taragon_00Russian Tarragon is grown from seed and grows well in both Terraseed ClassicTM and Terraseed ExcelTM. Yield and quality are best when grown in Classic.
Seeds are line sown in rows that are 7.5cm apart at between 1000 and 2000 seeds /m2.

French Tarragon is only grown from cuttings and is not suitable for Terraseed.

Camomile

crops_camomile_00Camomile grows very well in both Terraseed ClassicTM and in Terraseed ExcelTM.  In trials on our own site the yield in Classic was significantly higher than in Excel despite the initial faster growth. Seed is very small but grows quickly.

Seed are line sown in rows that are 7.5cm apart at between 1000 and 2000 seeds / m2.

Chervil
crops_chervil_00Chervil is a popular culinary herb that we have  grown in Terraseed ClassicTM on our trial site. It is very slow growing and frost tolerant. Seeds germinate more quickly than parsley and good weed control has been achieved on crops grown outside.   More technical development is required before this can be regarded as a fully commercial application, but watch this space.
Seeds are line sown in rows that are 7.5cm at between 100 and 200 /m2.

Coriander and Parsley

Coriander and Parsley do not grow well in Terraseed.

Corriander germinates very poorly in Terraseed. This may be caused by exposure to light during germination. We are investigating ways to resolve this.

Parsley is very slow to germinate and required high temperatures. We have achieved very mixed results in Terraseed ClassicTM but are investigating new material combinations to resolve this.
